Renowned Malayalam actor Salim Kumar, who passed away, is being remembered not only for his stellar cinematic career but also for his uncompromising political stance. Unlike many of his peers in the film industry who hesitated to openly declare their political affiliations, Salim Kumar proudly identified as a Congressman. He openly maintained that his political commitment was a promise made to his father, which he intended to keep until his death.

Speaking about his political beliefs at an event in Kochi, Salim Kumar had once remarked that all political parties behave similarly once they attain power, which is why he never felt the need to switch sides. He openly admitted that he did not seek any positions or favors from the party, but remained a Congressman simply to honor his father’s legacy. Despite his strong political views, his sharp criticisms—often laced with humor—were never personal attacks, earning him respect across the political spectrum, including from opponents.
