Renowned Malayalam actor and comedian Salim Kumar has passed away at the age of 56 following a heart attack. He was undergoing treatment for liver-related ailments at a private hospital in Kochi when his condition deteriorated. After experiencing physical discomfort earlier in the day, he was placed on ventilator support, but passed away later in the evening around 11:30 PM.

Salim Kumar began his artistic journey as a mimicry artist with Cochin Kalabhavan before transitioning to television and cinema. He made his acting debut with the film ‘Ishtamanu Nooruvattam’ and went on to deliver countless memorable comedic and character roles. He won his first Kerala State Film Award in 2005, and later achieved ultimate glory by winning both the National and State Film Awards for Best Actor in 2010 for his landmark performance in ‘Adaminte Makan Abu’.
